The COVID vaccine certificate is a guaranteed proof issued by the Government that a person has received COVID-19 vaccine. The people who are fully or partially vaccinated have to carry the certificate for various reasons, including travel allowance, medical care, etc.
Currently, there are different types of certificates being issued, i.e., for the First Dose, Second Dose, Precautionary (Booster) Dose, and a consolidated certificate for all doses, whether you’ve received Covishield or Covaxin. If you have received 1st dose, 2nd dose, Booster dose or all doses, you can download the vaccine certificate here.

Since the introduction of COVID-19 vaccine, the Indian Government has laid great emphasis on administering the vaccine to the residents. More than 169 crore vaccine doses have been administered across the country overall, including the first, second, and precautionary doses. Among the adult population, around 72% are fully vaccinated, and 94% people have recieved at least one dose.
Besides Covishield and Covaxin, a new vaccine- Sputnik V (manufactured and licensed by Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories) has also come to light that may potentially provide protection against all COVID-19 variants.
The first phase of COVID-19 vaccination started in the first quarter of 2021 which approved the distribution of the vaccine across the 30 million health workers who were directly dealing with COVID patients and the frontline workers, including paramilitary forces, police, sanitation workers, and disaster management volunteers.
The second phase of vaccination covered the residents who were over the age of 60, between the age 45 to 60, the residents with one or more qualifying comorbidities, and the healthcare/frontline workers who didn’t receive a dose in the phase 1. In the second phase, over 111 million vaccine doses were distributed.
Moving on to the third phase, the citizens above the age of 15-18 also became eligible for COVID-19 vaccination. Currently, around 52% of children between the age group of 15-18 are inoculated with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine.
