Piles or hemorrhoids not just happen to ordinary people or pregnant women. Even famous and rich personalities go through such problems due to their stressful lifestyle, especially in the United States, where hemorrhoids are said to be a common problem. 

Hemorrhoids affect not just elderly people but also the young population due to sedentary lifestyle and poor eating habits. Furthermore, not just the US, but celebrities, politicians, sports heroes, famed world travelers, and many more across the world are said to suffer from hemorrhoids.

Here are some well-known personalities who have suffered from hemorrhoids:

• Lil’ Wayne (Born 1982);
  

  A black American rapper and hip hop artist, who is recognized for his hits, How to Love and Got Money, got arrested in 2011 because of attempted gun possession. However, according to the reports, his jail imprisonment had to be postponed for a while until he underwent surgery for hemorrhoids.
  

  

• Whitney Houston (1963 – 2012);
  

  An American singer, actress and music producer. Houston was cited as the most awarded female act of time by Guinness World Records in 2009. Her lead song, I Will Always Love You, became the best-selling solo by a female singer in musical history. Although it was revealed that she died at the age of 48 because of drug overdose, it was also reported that she also suffered from the pain of hemorrhoids when she was alive.
  

• George Clooney (born 1961);
  

  American actor, film director, screenwriter, and producer, “The Batman” himself was suffering from hemorrhoids. Above all, he could not prevent his medical history from public. But when asked, he never commented about it.

• George Brett (1953–2012);
  

  American former professional baseball player who played 21 years, primarily as a third baseman for Kansas City Royals, missed part of the 1980 World Series due to hemorrhoids surgery, returning quickly to the game the following day.
  

• Elizabeth Taylor (1932–2011);
  

  A star since teenage had a lot of striking medical difficulties. To name a few of them starting with persistent hemorrhoids, an emergency tracheotomy, back traction, and skin cancer. 

  

• Marilyn Monroe (1926–1962);

• Jimmy Carter (born 1924);
  

  39th President of the United States from 1977–1981 was forced to cancel all his work at the White House to undergo hemorrhoid surgery but he did not. Later he took the hemorrhoids surgery the following year after his tenure got over in 1982. 

  

• Gerald Ford (1913–2006);
  

  38th President of the US. He was always an athlete but in later years he restricted all his activities that resulted in hemorrhoids.

  

• Ernest Hemingway (1899–1961);
  

  American author, journalist and world traveler suffered many diseases namely anthrax infection, kidney trouble, cut eyeball, a broken arm, and torn groin muscle. Hemorrhoids was also one the ailments in the list. 

  

• Karl Marx (1818–1883);
  

  Prussian-German philosopher, sociologist, economist, journalist, historian and revolutionary socialist. He was writing Das Kapital when he was troubled by hemorrhoids.  He wrote his close friend Friedrich Engels saying, “To finish I must at least be able to sit down” adding, “I hope the bourgeoisie will remember my carbuncles.” 

  

• David Livingstone (1813–1873);
  

  African explorer and medical missionary. He suffered countless episodes of hemorrhoids.  Back in 1864, he disagreed to get the surgery because of the fear of being disabled and unable to return to Africa. He is the only famous person in the list recognized as having died due to hemorrhoids.

  

• Napoleon Bonaparte (1769–1821);
  

  French Emperor’s; He was suffering from hemorrhoids during the Battle of Waterloo that he couldn’t sit on his horse to command his army.

  

• Alfred The Great (849–899);
  

  King Alfred of Wessex. It is said that he uttered the wish for God to inflict him with a disease to suppress lust but not rob him his ability to rule. He soon became afflicted with hemorrhoids.
