Indian Home Remedies for Cough

Whenever the weather changes, little tiny tots and kids are exposed to the infections and contaminations that are quite common in cold weather.   2. Sucking ginger piece

    Cut and peel a piece of ginger, dip in honey or rub a pinch of salt before making your kid suck it keeping in the mouth as long as he can suck the juice out of it completely.

  3. Tulsi teaTulsa tea for cough

    Tulsi is an age-old nuskha that helps in treating many ailments, especially throat issues. You can add cinnamon, black pepper along with tulsi leaves in tea and make your kid consume it. Add honey as the taste might be unpleasant.

  4. Steam with herbal or Vicks vapors

    Boil some tulsi tea in a big pot of hot water or simply add some Vicks vapour rub and let your kid inhale the steam as it starts to form. This remedy will provide relief from the clogged nose.

  5. DatesDates for cough

    Dates contain Vitamin C as a potent antioxidant that will keep away your kid from infections. 2-3 dates per day help to curb the discomforting symptoms.

  6. Honey

    Raw honey is known to have maximum antibacterial properties. Trust this liquid gold. Mix one tablespoon in lukewarm water and make your kid drink it. It provides good relief. Following combinations can also help:
    -Ginger and honey
    -Garlic and honey
    -Lemon juice and honey
    -Cinnamon and honey

  7. Turmeric milk

    Turmeric milk for cough
    Haldi Doodh is every mom’s go-to easy and helpful remedy. Make this golden drink by adding ¼ tbs of Haldi (turmeric) into one glass of boiling milk and make your kid drink it at normal or lukewarm temperature before going to bed. It has great antiseptic and antibacterial properties.

  8. Kaadha

    The best-considered remedy with a queer taste but great benefits is Kaadha. Cumin, black pepper and jaggery kaadha; tulsi, ginger, ajwain kadha are best to get rid of cough and cold. Boil these ingredients in water till it gets half in quantity and then make your kid consume this lukewarm kaadha before making him ready for bed.   9. Kesar milk

    Though expensive Kesar is quite effective in case of cold. Add 3-4 flakes in boiling milk and boil it for 5 minutes before making your kid drink it. It provides good heat to the body to fight the cold and cough symptoms and helps in having a sound sleep too.

  10. Clove honey mix

    Dry roast 4-5 cloves on a pan and grind it into a fine powder before mixing a small pinch to one tablespoon of honey.

  11. Pineapple for treating cough in kids

    Loaded with an enzyme known as bromelain, pineapples acts an expectorant and reduces mucus and phlegm in the throat. Generally, this works for people suffering from wet cough. Hence for instant relief, make your child drink pineapple juice a couple of times a day.

  12. Thyme for cough

    This herb not only adds flavors to the dishes but it can also be very effective in relieving coughs. As thyme is rich in antioxidants and flavonoids, the herb can help in relaxing and soothing out inflamed airways and membranes.

  13. Mulethi for treating cough in kids

    Mulethis is an Ayurvedic remedy that is rich in antioxidant properties. Hence, it can reduce inflammation in the bronchial tubes exponentially and loosens out the mucus resulting in difficulty breathing. Moreover, this also cures bacterial infections causing cough in children.
