Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi launched the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) on 27th September 2021, as an initiative to strengthen health facilities in India. The ABDM is aimed to create an online platform that enables interoperability within the digital ecosystem. Under ABDM, every citizen can create their Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA), previously known as Health ID or Health ID Card. The digital health IDs bridge the gap between various stakeholders in the healthcare ecosystem, making healthcare safe, secure, and easily accessible to the right people.

Health IDs can be created using a person’s mobile number or Aadhaar number. The unique health ID allows the person, doctors, and health insurance companies to access and share medical records digitally. You will not be able to retrieve any information tagged to your ABHA in the future. You will never be able to access ABDM applications or any health records over the ABDM network with your deleted ABHA.On deactivation, you will lose access to all ABDM applications for the period of deactivation. Until you reactivate your ABHA, you will not be able to share your ABHA at any health facility or share your health records over the ABDM network.
