Laparoscopic Hysterectomy Surgery

Once the infected or prolapsed uterus is removed from the body, the incision site is stitched back with dissolvable stitches and the patient is expected to recover within 6-8 weeks. 

A laparoscopic hysterectomy is a more advanced technique for removing the uterus in comparison to the traditional open-cut surgery. This, too, can be performed through either of the two routes- the abdomen or the vagina. But, here, instead of marking the traditional open-cut incision, the doctor uses a specialized medical instrument called- laparoscope.

A laparoscope is a thin fiber-optic instrument with a light and camera on its end. Here, the doctor first makes a tiny, keyhole-sized incision in your lower abdomen and inserts the laparoscope to access better visibility and a precise understanding of your uterus and its surrounding organ. Then, with the help of few more specialized surgical instruments, your doctor either removes the uterus through your abdomen or trans vagina.

This technique of surgery is minimally invasive, comparatively faster, and marks minimal complications. It is also known for its fastest recovery rate.
