Squint Treatment
Before squint surgery, the ophthalmologist or eye doctor will use eye drops to dilate the pupils. Then, the Hirschberg Test or Hirschberg Corneal Reflex Test is performed to assess the eye muscles of a strabismus patient. The examination involves shining a light in the eye to observe where the light reflects from the corneas.
If the corneas are well-aligned, the light reaches the center of the cornea. If it doesn’t, the results will show whether the patient has exotropia, hypertropia, esotropia, or hypotropia. More than one type of strabismus can also occur in the patient.
In earlier stages, glasses or vision therapy is used to address squinting. If these treatments are not effective, squint surgery is recommended for the patient.

The recurrence usually happens when the squint was firstly caused by a brain problem. Due to this, the brain may again let the eyes drift in different directions, resulting in recurrence.
